Kawasaki Concours GTR1400 - Stebel Air Horn Installation

This article shows the installation process of a Stebel Air horn on a 2009 Kawasaki Concours GTR1400

We learned a few nice tricks with this one and here they are. Using the Plug-N-Play wiring kit and the stock horn bracket made this install rather painless. Be sure to hold onto the 2 OEM horn mounting bolts bracket as they can be reused with your new Stebel Air Horn.

Remove the stock horn from between the front forks.

Remove the horn from the stock bracket.

Using the nut and bolt supplied with the horn attach the bracket to the rubber mounted connection on the bracket.

Alternate angle to illustrate the direction of the mounting bracket. Be certain not to tighten the bracket too snugly. Small adjustments will need to be made once the horn is in position on the motorcycle.

This illustrates the positive [yellow] and negative [black] connections on the bottom of the horn. You will also notice that the black lead is terminated to the mounting bracket with a bolt that will be fastened to the subframe of the front cowl.

Removing the side panel on the right hand side there is an unused, threaded mounting position for an M6 bolt. Use one of the two OEM bolts from the OEM horn mounting bracket and secure it inside this void under the cowl.

Be certain to use this mounting position to ground the horn. Also be sure the angle of the horn does not exceed 25 degrees per the Stebel instructions.

As luck would have it, there is another unused threaded mounting position on the frame. It is just behind the foam wall that is perfect mounting position for the relay contained in the kit. Using the second OEM horn bolt, secure the relay here.

Last thing to do is install the positive lead. A great feature of the Plug-N-Play kit is that it supplies you with an inline fuse to protect the horn and the bike. We suggest that you test this horn OUTDOORS. It really is that loud.
