GIVI cases - resetting the lock mechanism

Posted on May 19, 2006 by TwistedThrottle.com There have been 0 comments

Here's a video we created to demonstrate how the latch works on a Givi Top Case.

For those that don't like to play with YouTube, here's a text description:

Resetting the lock mechanism

The following procedure may be necessary if the upper latch has locked but has not secured the lid down.

1. Lift up the lid of the case.

2. Insert the key and turn 90 degrees to the right so the key is horizontal to the case (unlock position).

3. Press in and hold the red lid release button (red button immediately above key lock) making sure it is fully depressed.

4. Push forward at the top of the upper latch mechanism; this is the piece that hooks to the lid of the case (the item with the “Press” label on).

The upper latch should now click and return to enable the closing and locking of the lid.

To avoid this situation in the future always confirm the lid is fully closed onto the base before pushing the upper latch forward and down to lock.

I just received a Givi V46 topcase from TwistedThrottle.com. If it was not for your on-line latch-use instructional video, you would be getting a call from me tomorrow for a replacement topcase. For the life of me, I couldn't figure out why the topcase would not latch - I thought the latch was broken! The Italians need to write better instructions in their manual. Thanks for making your video!
