Givi E528 topcase mounting plate installed on a Suzuki DL1000 & DL650 V-Strom

Here we have a picture tutorial for installing the Givi E528 Topcase Rack to the DL1000 or to the DL650.
Instead of a thousand words, how about a few pictures? Here is a photo tutorial of how to install the E528 on your V-Strom.

(1) Remove the rubber pad on the original toprack.

(2) Admire your toprack without a rubber pad.

(3) Check out all your parts. You do have all your parts, don't you?

(4) Install the rear mounting bracket.

(5) Remove the rack from the bike and install the E528 front mounting bracket. Note that the picture below shows the bracket turned 180 degrees around from the noted correct position according to the manufacturer's instructions. Use of this alternative position gives your passenger 0.4 inches (1cm) more room, but is not recommended by the manufacturer (i.e., may void warrantees, cause catastrophic failure, enhance global warming, etc.).

(6) Reattach the original rack to the bike, now including the E528 mounting brackets.

(7) Bolt the top plate onto the E528 mounting brackets.

(8) This is one of the niggly little nuts needed to fasten the E528 plate to the mounting brackets. This requires small fingers, luck, or surgeon's hands.

(9) Yay! The top plate is installed. Now let's finish it off so it doesn't look like a milk crate...

(10) Install the little rubber bumpers. On second thought, do this before step 6.

(11) Screw on the finish plate over the milk-crate section of the structural top plate, and you're done!

(12) Pictured is the DL1000 with E528 top plate, Givi E52N topcase, SW-MOTECH centerstand, SW-MOTECH crashbars, and SW-MOTECH Quick-Lock siderack mounts.
