Here we have a an article on the MRA VarioScreen-Max for the Honda ST1100.
"When I visited my bike last month (December 2004) in South Georgia, I installed an MRA VarioScreen Maxi windshield. Here's what Roland had to say:
The model I installed was an MRA VarioScreen Maxi designed for the ST1100 Pan European. I had actually ordered the standard MRA VarioScreen but through some confusion received the Maxi. It could be that thefolks at MRA knew what I wanted better than I did, because I really like this windshield!
The bike and I are now rock steady at speeds above 55 MPH. With the OEM windshield I had a lot of helmet buffeting and felt pretty uncomfortable. In fact, on the super highways I was wishing I had my Connie (Kawasaki Concouse) back.
What a world of difference with the MRA windshield! The ST1100 is like a
rock now and just gets steadier as the speed increases. All of my uneasiness
at 65 and higher is gone (this might not be all good).
I've decide the VarioScreen Maxi might be a better choice than the standard VarioScreen model. The VarioScreen Maxi's height has some limited adjustability (up and down about 1 1/2" and forward/back
about 4"). I'm 5' 11" with 29" legs and have a new Travelcade Stealth seat. If I was 2" shorter, I think the windshield would be higher than I like
it, but it wouldn't take much to fix that problem. Taller can be easily handled by tilting the upper portion up.
The upper portion of the VarioScreen Maxi windshield is easily removed for summer riding and/or riding at lower speeds.
Like most German products the windshield is very nicely made and fits well. The lower portion has some shading that would improve readability of a GPS or other shelf-mounted equipment and hide them for straight on view.
I previously had a Clearview windshield on my Connie. I'd have to say the MRA is a much better windshield. The venting system seems to be very effective at reducing the effects of side winds that blew my Connie with a Clearview around.
Look at the VarioScreen and VarioScreenMaxi about half way down the page. The VarioScreen is supposedly available for the ST1100 and what I though I ordered. This is the only variable screen for an ST1100 I've found. Instead, I received the VarioScreen Maxi.
Very nice screen, German engineering and finish."
