I bought this shift lever for my new V strom 650 because I was having trouble shifting the original shift lever. I wear steel toed boots and was having trouble fitting the toe far enough under the shifter to be comfortable. Once I got this shifter I realized that all I had to do was reposition the shift lever upward to make more room. This completely offset the reason I bought the SW shifter. I was used to riding cruisers with heel shifters so my bad. Anyway once I got the new shifter installed I realized I didn't need it. I didn't return it because it looked so much better than the stock shifter. If you have large feet or wear overly large boots this shift lever is for you. (Posted on 6/5/15)

I found that the standard vstrom was too small for my extra wide 11 Altberg boots so much so I could not use them.
The SW-MOTECH Adjustable Folding Gear Shift Lever allows more room so changing gear is no longer a problem. Great result and delivery even in the UK! (Posted on 10/6/14)

I could not adjust the stock shifter to work well with my Sidi Adventure boots.
This shift lever has 4 adjustments for length. The longest adjustment is 1 1/4 inch longer than stock. The spring loaded folding toe bar is 1/2 inch longer than stock. These two features enabled me to fine tune the lever for my boots. I am very pleased with the results and now enjoy riding with my Sidi's. If you have large feet or boots that don't work well, I would check into this shift lever. A little pricey, but eliminating the cramps I was getting from contorting my foot was worth the expense.
