SW-MOTECH's highly functional and elegant toprack features a strong, integrated-looking, lightweight aluminum design. Mounts alone or with SW-MOTECH Quick-Lock sideracks (available separately). The smart, multi-functional design enables the use of a Quick-Lock adapter plate (sold separately) to carry TraX ALU-BOX, Pelican, Shad, Givi / Kappa, Coocase & Soft Luggage topcases. A GIVI Monolock topcase may be mounted on the Alu-Rack using the permanent-mount adapter plate included with the Monolock case. Also fits Hepco & Becker and Krauser topcases.
Installs quickly using basic hand tools. No cutting, drilling, or welding of existing motorcycle components required. The Alu-Rack comes with a black powder coated finish and includes basic diagram-type instructions which may have small amounts of either English or German text (or both).Rentaroo of the ZRX Owner's Association said:
Not sure if you've decided on a top rack yet, so here are a few photos of my new SW-Motech "Alu-Rack" from Twisted Throttle. I'm really pleased with the build quality and fit. You can use the rack on its own, or with an adapter plate built specifically for different types of hard luggage such as Givi, Krauser, etc. I purchased this to replace my Givi top rack. I was happy with the Givi rack, but it was not compatible with any side-case carriers on the market. The SW-Motech Alu-Rack is compatible with SW-Motech Quick-Lock sidecase carriers, so I can now fit hard Givi saddlebags on my bike as well.
There is about 1" of clearance between the rack and the tail section of the bike.
No soft-luggage for me. It takes approx. 10 seconds to put the SW-MOTECH adapter plate and Givi top-case on the Alu-Rack. I'll never go back to soft-luggage, mainly because I like being able to lock up my stuff (jacket, gloves, helmet). The hard-luggage also stays put, rather than blowing around in the wind or shifting during hard riding.
Installation wasn't hard at all. Took about 20-30 minutes.
