"The original BMW R1150GS Adventure crash bars require removing 10 bolts for an oil change (the 4 on the skid plate to engine, 4 connecting the lower crash bars to the uppers, and one on each side for the cross bar). I leave the BMW original lower crash bars attached to the skid plate during an oil change as it is much easier than trying to realign them to the skid plate. There's no crossbar on the SW-MOTECH crash bars for the R1150GS Adventure, just the bottom mount to the skid plate, so I only have to remove 2 bolts for an oil change (better than the 10 bolts for the original BMW crash bars"
