Item No: HPS.05.219.100
| Our Price: | $174.99 |
The must-have accessory for sport-touring! Greatly eases basic chain maintenance, tire changes, parking, and bike cleaning. Super-strong steel construction features typical German design and high engineering standards. Superb integration with the factory exhaust and sidestand components -- retain all existing features without sacrificing lean angle or clearances.
All hardware needed to mount the centerstand included. Installs using basic hand tools. No welding, cutting, or drilling of existing frame or body parts required. During installation, you'll need to temporarily remove the sidestand, an exhaust bolt, and partially disassemble the rear suspension, so:
SW-MOTECH recommends that you have a professional mechanic install this centerstand.
Those that are brave and mechanically inclined can check out our installation tutorial.
Features a tough black powdercoated finish with some gray fittings and hardware. A double-retention spring is included as a safety feature to prevent the centerstand from contacting pavement if one of the two springs should fail during a ride. Designed to work with OEM components -- we cannot assure fit with aftermarket exhausts or other accessories. Total weight about 7 lbs.
Fits all U.S. and European 2003 and later SV650/S and SV650/N, as verified by our customers.
Note: Will not fit bikes with a Yoshimura full exhaust system installed.
This centerstand does not fit SV1000/N or SV1000/S.
John MacDonald, an SV650N rider and contributor to TwistedThrottle.com, wrote to us about the product in December 2004:
"The SW-Motech centerstand is on my girlfriend's 2003 Suzuki SV650 Naked.
I suspect that I know why [a previous customer thought the centerstand] wouldn't fit [the 2003 SV650N]. I spent about 20 minutes looking at how things lined up and figured out the confusion.
There are two bolts that the front hole on the centerstand's left side bracket look like it could be attached to. One bolt is a support for the exhaust, but the other bolt is on the back side of the front bolt for the sidestand. When the centerstand bracket is lined up with the support for the exhaust, the centerstand bracket will not clear the left dog bone. When the centerstand bracket is lined up with the bolt for the side stand, the left side centerstand bracket just barely clears the bike's dog bone (inside). Just barely = perfect.
Thanks for selling a solid product!
Sincerely,
John MacDonald (Happy camper)"
We do not recommend installing centerstands on bikes with a lowered rear suspension because use on a lowered bike may result in:
- ground clearance & cornering clearance problems, and
- difficulty in lifting the lowered bike onto the centerstand.

Admin note: This is a dedicated thread for discussing the Centerstand ('03- SV650). I recently purchased this product from TwistedThrottle.com. I am writing this installation review for the benefit of others who might be intested in installing the SW-MOTECH centerstand on their bikes. The product is very well made! :) The product is shipped with diagrams but no text instructions. It took me about 2 hrs to figure out the steps myself and complete the installation on my bike. This could have been done in about 30 minutes with clearer instructions! My recommendations for "how to install" are: 1. Put you bike on swing arm stand and secure the bike very well. 2. Remove the side kick stand by removing the allen bolts (10mm Hex ). Remove the side stand switch by unscrewing 2 X 10MM bolts. 3. Remove the exhaust mount bolt below the bike, behind the side stand. 4. Loosen the rear cushion lever bolt and remove the bolt and nut. This step is difficult as the nut (18MM) on the right is in a tight spot and an open-ended wrench must be used to prevent this nut from rotating when the bolt on left side is loosened using a 12MM socket wrench. The cushion lever bolt requires a lot of torque (is torque tightened to 56.5 lb-ft/78 N-m) and use of an extended drive lever is recommended. 5. Now look at the SW-motech assembly diagram, use the SW-Motech supplied longer cushion lever bolt (10MM socket) to insert through the hole on the left fixing lug, followed by a spacer. Insert the assembly into the rear cushion lever. TIP: Cushion lever can be easily aligned if the engine block is jacked high from the bottom. 6. Gently tap the bolt until it's barely outside on the right side and mount the right fixing lug, washer and the supplied bolt (19MM). Be sure to apply liquid threadlocker onto the bolt before it's screwed onto the cushion lever bolt. Hand tighten the bolt from the left side as the right has no working space at all. 7. Mount the center stand onto the fixing lugs with the supplied bolt (Socket screw 10MM). 8. Use the supplied M12 hex bolt and mount the sidestand after aligning the left fixing lug's hole. Again, don't forget to apply liquid thread locker to sidestand. 9. Proceed with step 6. Viz., the tightening of rear cushion lever bolt to the specified torque (78N-m). 10. Tighten the center stand bolt to the specified torque. 11. Tighten the left bolt of the sidestand and proceed to tighten the nut behind the left fixing lug of the center stand. Mount the exhaust bolt now. 12. Install the second bolt on the right side of the sidestand and tighten it to specified torque. 13. Remove the left pillion foot peg mounting from the chassis. Mount the SW-Motech supplied "pull handle" using the longer socket screws. 14. The Center stand is ready for use !!!! The trick to get your bike onto centerstand is to step onto the pointed lever on the stand and pull the handle. Boom !!! your bike is on the centerstand with couple of inches of clearance between the rear wheel and the ground! Suggested improvement: The pull handle should have stop at the end so that the hand doesn't slide off it when the bike is pulled. It' somewhat difficult to locate the foot lever on the centerstand without looking carefully. It could have been made longer and more visible, but such construction might have interfered with ground clearance. Workaroud: Kick down the sidestand before you step on the center stand. I have some pictures on this and will provide them upon request. Bottom line: this is a well made product and fits onto the SV650 like an OEM part. -Mkumar
