Twisted Throttle aluminum engine guard / skidplate (Kawasaki KLR650 '08-) two tone silver & black

Constructed of 3mm-thick (1/8"-thick) aluminum for heavy-duty, light-weight protection. Baseplate includes side protectors that wrap around the engine block and the water pump housing to provide both bottom and side protection. Now available in a 2 tone black & silver finish.

All hardware needed to mount the skidplate is included. Typically installs using basic hand tools. No welding, cutting, or drilling of existing frame or body parts required. Designed to work with OEM components -- we cannot assure fit with aftermarket exhausts or other accessories.

The infamous KLR650 "Doohickey" (the left-side balancer chain tension adjuster) is accessible with the skidplate installed.

The skidplate's front mounting point is hinged so that the skidplate can be pivoted out of the way after releasing the two rear skidplate mount bolts. This makes maintenance and oil changes much faster than with our competitor's non-hinged skidplates.

Special Note: This item will also fits the KLR650 '87-'07 WITHOUT SW-MOTECH Crash Bars. If you plan to install both the crashbars and the skidplate please use part # MSS.08.347.100 for the '87-'07 models only.

Special Note: This skid plate CAN be installed WITH Givi TN421 crashbars by using 2 spacers of a reduced thickness of 2mm each on the front bracket. This is number 5 in the parts list of the installation guide at the bottom of this page. A spacer kit is in the works. If you are handy and can remove 2mm from the existing spacers or can get your hands on 2 spacers with these dimensions: OD: 20, ID: 8.2, H: 14, then you are ready to go.
