Electrical Wiring Installation
Coocase is 100% compatible with CANBUS equipped motorcycles!
Every topcase includes our standard wiring kit. The standard wiring kit includes all connectors, fuseholders, and wire required for easy hookup without tools - no wire cutting, stripping, or crimping needed! Just connect 2 wires to your battery terminals and 2 more to your tail light and brake light, and you'll ready to ride.
Use of alarm and keyless entry requires that the case's wire harness be connected to your motorcycle battery. Installing Coocase's tail lights and brake lights is not required for use of the alarm and keyless entry features.
Electrical Power Draw
Because the lights in the topcase are LEDs, they draw very little power (less than 1 amp). The topcase draws 110mA when the alarm is sounding, and 16mA when the case is charging. The alarm sounds for 1 hour before it silences itself.
Most motorcycles and scooters have batteries with a capacity between 7 and 20 amp/hours. Suppose you have a small, undercharged battery with a 7 amp/hour capacity. If the alarm goes off for 1 hour (110mA) and then turns off and charges the topcase (16mA), the battery will last approximately 430 hours (18 days) before completely discharging. As long as you're riding your bike a couple hours of week, you will have no issues with the Coocase draining the battery. If your battery is larger, you'll be able to go longer without riding it (but who would want to do that?). Removing the topcase prevents battery discharge if you park the bike for multiple weeks on end; however, you should probably put the bike on a charger if you tend to do this, regardless of whether you've installed a Coocase or not.

Admin note: This is a dedicated thread for discussing the Coocase V36 Wizard topcase, Luxury edition with inner liner,. Having lived in NYC for a few years with a sportbike, secure storage when getting off the bike is a problem. My friends Suzuki Burgman can store his living room furniture under the seat, but I'm left with schlepping my leather jacket and boots to the local coffee shop. With the stylish and feature-laden Coocase Wizard Luxury edition... not anymore! The Coocase Wizard has an alarm, an unlocking remote, a solid liner, two very bright LED brake lights, and much more. I haven't had the pleasure of hearing the alarm yet, but the unlocking remote is fantastic. You can unlock the case when walking up, just open it and grab your gear. No fiddling with a key. The liner covers the whole interior and is made out of some black scuba-suit like material, it's durable and protects your gear. I've thrown my u-lock, street shoes and laptop in the back and they've been quite protected from bumps while riding. The lid uses a very tight double seal with a 10mm internal lip that rises up into the case and a 4mm outer lip that pushes down into the active compression rubber seal. As a test I've simulated heavy driving rain with the shower water-sprayer and everything remained dry - no water in the case. The brakelight LED's are a great idea. They're high up so much more noticeable and are bright enough that no trailing drivers can miss them. The flat bottom of the case has a recessed receiver that plugs into some small sturdy blades in the baseplate. A short 10 minute job to hook up the 3 wires (pos, neg, brakelight) under the rear seat ended up with me flicking the rear brake to watch the bright LED's light up in the sun. The baseplate comes with four delrin secured bolts and thick, wide butterfly bars to secure to your rack. Six rigid bolt holes allow any combination of spacing to make sure the baseplate is secure. Attaching, removing and carrying the case is not an issue. The built-in handle balances the case vertically while carrying and is deep enough (4 cm) so that it's secure in your hand. The one negative affecting a passenger is the built in hinge that gradually curves out from the front of the attached case between 8-12mm. Without a padded backrest (I've been told these are avail. Fall 2008) or a padded jacket, this will dig into your passengers back if the case is mounted too far forward or if you are in stop-and-go traffic. For now, mounting the case more rearward and mounting some high density foam over the hinge would help. I've been looking for a decent moto topcase for a couple of years but didn't act because of lack of features and value in the marketplace. When I first came across this case earlier this year I knew the time had come. The features and quality of this case really showcase the well thought out design and rider-knowledge that went into it. Highly recommended, the Coocase topcase is a valuable addition to your motorcycling enjoyment.
