Electrical Wiring Installation
Coocase is 100% compatible with CANBUS equipped motorcycles!
Every topcase includes our standard wiring kit. The standard wiring kit includes all connectors, fuseholders, and wire required for easy hookup without tools - no wire cutting, stripping, or crimping needed! Just connect 2 wires to your battery terminals and 2 more to your tail light and brake light, and you'll ready to ride.
Use of alarm and keyless entry requires that the case's wire harness be connected to your motorcycle battery. Installing Coocase's tail lights and brake lights is not required for use of the alarm and keyless entry features.
Electrical Power Draw
Because the lights in the topcase are LEDs, they draw very little power (less than 1 amp). The topcase draws 110mA when the alarm is sounding, and 16mA when the case is charging. The alarm sounds for 1 hour before it silences itself.
Most motorcycles and scooters have batteries with a capacity between 7 and 20 amp/hours. Suppose you have a small, undercharged battery with a 7 amp/hour capacity. If the alarm goes off for 1 hour (110mA) and then turns off and charges the topcase (16mA), the battery will last approximately 430 hours (18 days) before completely discharging. As long as you're riding your bike a couple hours of week, you will have no issues with the Coocase draining the battery. If your battery is larger, you'll be able to go longer without riding it (but who would want to do that?). Removing the topcase prevents battery discharge if you park the bike for multiple weeks on end; however, you should probably put the bike on a charger if you tend to do this, regardless of whether you've installed a Coocase or not.

Just installed this case on my '06 BMW K1200GT. I was looking for an alternative to the $1,000 BMW 48L case and this looked like the best overall choice. Lessons Learned: (1) Great case! Mounts VERY solidly. Easily holds 2 helmets. Nice included padding. Extra lights help w/ visibility. The lock is a great addition. At first I thought this was a cheesy extra, but it is surprising useful. In addition to the security feature, it allows one to access the case w/o needing to use the key, say if you have already started your bike. Overall, very worthwhile case at a very reasonable price. (2) OUTSTANDING customer support. If you have any questions, pre or post purchase, the Twisted Throttle team is one of the best I have ever dealt with. Everyone I talked to was VERY willing to answer my many questions, took the time to talk me through the installation process and to offer some very useful general suggestions. Observations: (1) There are no actual instructions for attaching the mounting plate to the bike. I would recommend looking at the installed photos on the Asta page and the PDF for the Givi E193 adaptor. Its not hard to figue out, but more substantial mounting instruction would be helpful. (2) The M6-30mm bolts are not long enough for the BMW. M6-40mm or M6-45mm bolts will be needed - see ACE hardward (Lowes & Home Depot don't carry them - at least not in Jax, FL). (3) The included Posi-Tap connections are AWESOME and make the wiring connections a snap! (4) Tapping the alarm circuit (presuming it is unused) is an easy way to power the case's lights through a switched circuit (under the rear seat - see the HyperLights site for detailed directions). (5) The Throttle Team recommended 1/8" x 1/2" bar-stock as a substitute to the Givi E-193 adaptor. Excellent cost-saving suggestion (vice the E-193 adaptor)! I found 3/16" x 3/4" to be a better fit to the K1200GT rack's curve. I also would recommend a coating of Rustoleum paint for color matching and protection. Using 3/4" vinyl bumpers (furniture protecting tabs) between the bar stock and the base plate makes for a good shock absorber and protects the finish on the bar stock. Summary: Great case. Great value. OUTSTANDING customer service!! I strongly recommend both the Cocase and Twisted Throttle.
