It's amazing that such a simple thing could make such a big difference! After a year of riding with a stock windshield and returning home with headaches, replacing it seemed the only option; however, I didn't want to ride in an oversized bubble. Further investigation led me to the MRA X-creen. I elected to go with the clamp on model and had second thoughts after it arrived as I sat staring at the bits and pieces that would require assembling in order to mount the unit. Not being a male, I took the time to read the instructions, took a deep breath and set about the task at hand. It went together easily and as I started out on the test ride, I rethought my decision to go with the clamp on model instead of purchasing the the model that required drilling. Would the clamp on model be sturdy and stable? Two words? No worries. This windscreen stayed put and has for over 3000 miles. It can be adjusted to allow the wind to flow over my helmet, it can be adjusted to block the cold winter air, as well as to direct a breeze to needed areas in the hot, muggy summer weather. This is exactly what I needed to eliminate what I was suffering from . . . an acute case of Bobble Head! (Posted on 5/22/2019)

Being a taller rider (6’5”) this was the perfect extension to deflect the wind up and over my helmet significantly reducing any neck strain. It also does not negatively affect the bike’s looks, imo, and creates no other issues. Easy to install and stays put. It was great on a recent 5000 km road trip. (Posted on 8/7/2018)

I think this item is a bit pricey for what it is, and the installation instructions could be better, but it seems very well made. In terms of effectiveness, I'd give it about 3.5 starts out of 5 FOR ME, but it may be more (or less) effective for others, it kind of depends on your height, your bike and the windscreen you're putting it on. (I'm around 5'10 riding a cb500x with a givi tall screen on it) I managed to reduce the buffeting I was experiencing by about 75%, so it's not gone but it's well tolerable. (Posted on 7/16/2018)

The X-Creen Touring Clamp-On is the perfect fit for my Madstad 22 inch high windshield. I should have bought one a year ago. It greatly reduces the wind noise around my helmet. It takes some adjustment/tweeking to set the X-Creen to the correct angle to the wind and to also find the correct height and spacing to the main windshield. Once the tour is set in the right spot the buffeting wind noise is gone. Very well made, really easy to assemble and install, and it may be removed in seconds. (Posted on 12/24/2017)

TL;DR: It's an almost perfect solution for my needs. Easy installation. Very Functional, Worth the $, Will use on all future road trips.

Details:
I have a Gen1 KLR, i often spend a couple days putting down long freeway miles on my way to and from the interesting bits... The KLR, tall and light is prone to buffeting + hanging on in all that wind is fatiguing, and takes a toll over time...

I didn't want to permanently alter the profile of the bike with a larger screen or fairing... The X-creen seemed like a good solution. Its clamp on, so i can remove it for daily use, it's adjustable so i can 'tune' it to my liking, and i can fold it down when it's not needed or safer out of the way for trail riding....

I purchased and installed it last month for trek over the Sierras to Black Rock/High Rock. Two round trips, plus 6 days offroad, about 1400miles all told. (about 100 offroad) I'm very pleased with it.

Assembly took about 15m, lots of small parts, more than i expected, but that snap together much like legos with almost no tools. (2 nuts and 4 4mm allen set screws) Very simple just a little fiddly. I do wish the set screw were longer, as the screen i'm clamping to is thinner. I thin k the OEM ones are 8mm, i'm trying 10mm ones now. I definitely also recommend threadlock for the set screws, i lost two over the duration.

I noticed the ride was dramatically improved by the 4 extra inches. Felt smoother, and I was less tired on arrivel. I do think the positioning makes a difference, as one of my trips it seemed less effective, i'll have to experiment to get it right.

the bikini fairing/cowel on my bike isn't very stiff, and only fastens in three places...so as high speeds there was some flapping from the lever with increased wind resistance... this probably contributed to the loss of the set screws. but didn't effect its performance, and it didn't come loose. i expect i can runs some wire inside to assist this.

The adjustment is pretty simple and allows a variety of heights and angles. Tho the lower locks can be awkward to get to. There are four catches to lock and unlock it...one at each joint/end of each arm. The upper two locks i can release while gloved and riding, but the lower ones are a bit awkward to adjust in in the lower positions, its just a tight space, a small lever, and a bad angle...i had to take my gloves off and be standing front of the bike to get them most times.... this is however a minor inconvenience at most. Also someone with smaller hands might not have this issue (Posted on 9/25/2017)

I bought this clamp on device in an effort to reduce wind buffeting behind my windscreen. The clamping mechanism is not up to the vibration and wind pressure over long distances. In a lowered position it's probably fine but in the extended position it's just not stout enough to be a permanent fixture on the bike. Ultimately, I took mine off. (Posted on 8/5/2017)

I am considering the X-creen Tour Windshield Extension. Had watched the 8 minute video on how to install the product which is really how to assemble the product. I think you should provide the customer with it at least pre-assembled for one of the only two possibilities. It sure looks like a tedious unnecessary task for the customer and it would not require larger packaging either. I can understand if an assembly is necessary in order to keep the packaging requirements smaller but this seems ridiculous and even more so for the optional clamps. Having these tiny parts pre-installed would also reduce any quality issues, missing parts, etc... FYI. I am very technically inclined but can forsee the issues from a customer perspective. I got to use it (on a GL1800) on a ride that matters... the long stretch of I-70 through CO and KS. Took a bit of positional fiddling to find it's sweet spot. In the end, it did cut down on some of the helmet turbulence. I only wish that it came in a much wider size.... appropriate for a Goldwing windshield (that would bump the rating to 5). Bottom line, it was worth the money with the above caveat. (Posted on 7/9/2017)

I've been battling wind noise on my ride for the past 3 years. Tried higher and lower shields of different manufacturers, various types of earplugs, face shields, etc. all to no avail. Ear plugs made the low frequency buffeting noise just unbearable. No plugs equally fatiguing. Saw this and thought that, while spendy for a little piece of plastic, it might be worth a try. Well, tried it out today and the noise was dramatically reduced! Riding is again a pleasure and so much more comfortable. The total height of the shield with the X-creen on it is actually a tad lower than the tall windshield I tried that didn't help much. Anyway, I'm a happy camper and look forward to many more miles this season! (Posted on 5/20/2017)

I was a little reluctant to spend $160 bucks on a small piece of plastic, but I did, and find it quite a functional addition to the factory screen, it allows the airflow to divert over my helmet allowing me to ride with the visor up at higher speeds, not to mention the bit of noise reduction it provides. It's a bit of a brain tease assembling parts and pieces but once you have it sussed out your good to go! (Posted on 4/11/2017)

I bought this and installed it on my 2008 BMW 1200GS to give me a bit more height on the windscreen to put me (a tall person) into a better "air flow pocket". I often get wind hitting me right in the face/helmet. With the extension the air flows just above my helmet reducing wind noise. I like that I can adjust the height and airflow gap beneath it as needed.
It was a bit tricky at first to figure out how the pieces went together but after watching some online videos and comparing them to the instruction manual I got it figured out. Clamps on nicely and doesn't mar up the original windscreen. I took it out to Portland and rode down the PCH along the ocean for two weeks. I loved it! A much better riding experience now. And I can take it off easily if I want to. (Posted on 7/24/2016)

I added this to the stock windshield on a 2015 Yamaha FJR. The MRA screen added enough height to push all the wind over my head for a very quiet buffet free ride. In hot weather, with the FJRs electric screen in the low position, the MRA smooths the airflow reducing buffeting while still supplying plenty of airflow across your body. the combination works better than most aftermarket windshields I have tried, costs less, and is easily removable. So get a fancy touring/commuting windshield or an extension on what is already on the bike (and probably not stolen easily). I went for the extension rather than a whole touring windshield because of the notion that I could easily shift it over to my touring bike. When I opened it up it seemed like there were a 1000 little pieces - and after riding to a picnic table to try to put it on (and then repacking the parts and bring them home ) I was sure I lost a couple of parts. But not, they were in my tail bag rattling around the bottom. Don't try to assembly at a picnic table away from home. The reason for pack up was that one of the major long screws had bunged up threads (not really with treads and with paint on it a bit) and would not work. Thinking I would have to contact Twisted Throttle for parts I first went to my local ACE Hardware and they had exactly the right type of metric hex head screw for 85¢ (really cost me $23.65 with all the other useless stuff I bought at ACE - thread lock, extra screws, hide a key velcro, etc). But once home with all the right parts it went together fairly easily. It fitted on the existing windshield perfectly and seems to rigidly lock in place once set. I mainly got it for rain and wind protection and so far it has been sunny and no real distance road trips to need wind protection, so real use evaluation is yet to come. It does seem to lock amazingly rigidly in place. Not sure if it would be a good place to mount a stickum blind spot rear view mirror or not but I will probably try since my main windshield is fairly low and my mirrors don't give 100% coverage (like most motorcycle mirrors). Thankfully, the MRA X-Creen has the perfect tint and curvature to match my after-market windscreen on my 2008 Ducati Multistrada. The multi-angle adjustments are incredibly handy and the clamp-on accessory I bought with the spoiler works flawlessly. When extended, the spoiler does a great job of deflecting the wind pressure against my helmet, which was my reason for purchasing, but it does of course cause buffeting, creating some extra noise. I did realize from prior experience with smaller windscreens that this would be a trade-off. The locks on the bracket work well, but they're small and thin so you have to take your gloves off to make any kind of adjustment. Overall, I feel the screen was definitely worth the purchase price. I should have purchased this a long time ago. After messing around with all kinds of windshield adjustments and other designs I finally tried this and my searching is now over! (Posted on 11/3/2014)

I got the touring model expecting a lot of wind protection.
I am still looking for the best position since it's adjustable indefinitely but so far, I am disappointed... especially for the price. (Posted on 10/28/2014)

Bought this for a BMW K1200RS with a Ztechnik windscreen. Even with windscreen in the high position I had some buffeting and wind noise that was bothersome. I'm 6'2" so I do sit high. In searching for solutions I came across the X-Creen and thought I'd give it a try. WOW! What a difference it makes. It wasn't too difficult to install (just read the instructions). After a few adjustments I found a sweet spot and angle that worked for me. Kept it below my field of vision and worked with angle that gave me perfect comfort. I can even ride on the highway with the visor up in comfort! (Posted on 10/18/2014)

Bought this prior to 1300 mile road trip. Already had extended windshield on my 2012 KLR650, but the wind still buffered my helmet. This windscreen made the difference. Traveled good portion with 3/4 helmet just face shied down and was able to take phone calls. (Posted on 9/30/2014)

Mounted mine without arm extensions using the windshield clamps on my GS1200 Adventure. Not to much hardware but still fully adjustable. I had forgotten what a difference riding with a high windshield can make. I have mine adjusted so I just look over the glass not through it. Good quality product, seems quite similar to the OEM quality of my BMW windshield. I believe the Germans have motorcycle windshield antishard standards that the rest of the world doesn't have of which seems to contribute to an overall better product. Twisted throttle got it out right away, I had it in 2 days via regular USPS. (Posted on 9/27/2014)

The X-Creen does what it is built to do, and does it well. My rides are a lot more comfortable since installing this spoiler, mostly due to the reduction in wind noise, but also because I find that my neck is more relaxed by not having to hold it against the wind.

Looks great (in my opinion) with the OEM windscreen of the Tiger 800, compared to some of windscreen replacements out there. (Posted on 7/15/2014)

I ride a Sportcity 250, many freeway ride. it was too loud for me, in my search i found this, the adjust ability of the screen is the secret for a quiet ride, everyone is different. there is couple of design flaw that i wished they correct on the next model, i do not like the thick edge on the screen, and wished they provide different arm length to increase the adjustment. This add-on spoiler made a huge difference in the wind noise issue I was having with my bike (bmw r1200r). Even with custom earplugs and windjammer on my helmet the noise with out the spoiler was unbearable. It takes a few rides to figure out which position works best but that's the beauty of it. It's like having multiple windscreens in one! Around town I keep it low but if I'm hitting the highway I adjust it to my needs, while stopped of course. (You cannot adjust it while riding) Definitely recommended!! (Posted on 8/11/2013)
