Super-strong steel construction features typical German design and high engineering standards. Superb integration with the factory exhaust and sidestand components -- retain all existing features without sacrificing lean angle or clearances.

All hardware needed to mount the centerstand included. Installs using basic hand tools. No welding, cutting, or drilling of existing frame or body parts required. Tough black powdercoated finish with some gray fittings or hardware as applicable. A double-retention spring is included as a safety feature to prevent the centerstand from contacting pavement if one of the two springs should fail during a ride. Designed to work with OEM components -- we cannot assure fit with aftermarket exhausts or other accessories.

Can be installed with or without SW-MOTECH's or Dual Star's skidplate/engine guard for the DR650SE.

We have not tested this centerstand with other brands of skidplates - let us know if you test other skidplate combination's, and we'll post the results here!

The original DR650SE rear suspension has two position settings (high or low). This centerstand raises the rear wheel off the ground when using the "low" setting. For bikes using the "high" setting, the rear tire may not be fully lifted off the ground when the centerstand is deployed. Inserting a 3/4"-thick piece of plywood under the legs of the stand solves this problem, raising the rear wheel off the ground. The legs of the stand cannot safely be made longer; extending the centerstand legs would limit cornering clearances and could cause the centerstand to hit the ground during hard cornering.

During installation of the centerstand, two mounting tabs and pivot spacers are inserted between the frame of the motorcycle and the driver footpegs. This displaces the footpegs outwards by 19mm on each side.

Got the centerstand today from Twisted Throttle, as expected it is very well made, if you have worked on older BMW's it's that kind of quality. Total installation time was about 40 minutes, this included unpacking, going out to the garage, getting the tools out, reading the bilingual instructions (ok, I just looked at the illustrations), the install, clean up, and some play time with the new gadget. Installation was very easy.

At first I was a little disappointed that it didn't raise a tire completely off the ground, they just touch, you can spin them by hand with very little effort, lowered bikes should be able to easily clear a tire; this could be a ride off type of stand that the Germans are so fond of. Also I have Progressive springs front & rear with D606 sneakers, so this might have something to do with it. What I really liked was that the thing is rock solid, after having the bike get blown over once a solid 4 point contact is appreciated. Using the stand is almost effortless, pull back on the frame by the airbox instead of the hand grab.

The stand moves the foot pegs out slightly and posture for me is actually more comfortable. It fits no problem with the Dual Star skid plate, I really don't think that you will have fitment problems with other manufacturers skid plates.

The centerstand brackets do not hang down past the frame rails; they are about even with the bottom of the frame rails.

Suzuki is using washer head bolts for the foot pegs now so I didn't have 4 of the washers for the install, no biggie I just didn't use any between the footpeg and centerstand brackets.

Special Note: We do not recommend installing centerstands on bikes with a lowered rear suspension because use on a lowered bike may result in:

  • Ground clearance & cornering clearance problems
  • Difficulty in lifting the lowered bike onto the centerstand

I'm mostly satisfied with my ctr. stand. One thing did come up and that is not much clearance between brake pedal and ctr. stand bracket. I had to raise my pedal a bit to allow for full brake pressure without contacting bracket. I also ground some metal off the lower part of brake pedal for additional clearance. (Posted on 11/25/2015)

I use DR650 in the paved road mainly.

Also I do not even ride, such as tilting the bike too.

Because it is such usage, I do not have to worry about cornering clearance and ground clearance.

I think if limited usage in this way, and can also be used in LOWERED model this item.

Lifting is difficult when there is even a little slope, but it is possible as long as it is a flat place. (Posted on 7/17/2014)
