The Mefo Explorer is a dual sport tire that provides excellent all-around performance for riders that spend their time riding split equally between the pavement and the dirt. You will experience excellent traction on the black top with this responsive tire in both wet and dry conditions. When hitting the trail enjoy the reliable grip provided by the aggressive large shoulder lugs that bite, even in mud. The bias ply construction increases durability, handles tough off-road conditions and gives you a comfortable ride. Discover how the Mefo Explorer can take your motorcycle adventure to the next level of riding confidence.

Twisted Throttle's Dual Sport Tires Buyer's Guide

Note: Mefo recommends at least 30.5 PSI in this tire for best performance and wear on motorcycles with an engine displacement of less than 650cc, and at least 35 PSI on motorcycles with an engine displacement of 650cc or greater.

The Mefo Explorer is the long distance professional dual-sport tire. Customers have reported to us that a set of Explorers can routinely take about 7,000-9,000 miles of use under the harsh adventure-touring conditions of Alaska. With secure, stable handling on dirt or wet pavement and high mileage performance, the Explorer has excellent all around versatility. Recommended for 50% street and 50% dirt riding. A great tire that will go anywhere and get you home again! DOT-approved.

Got front and rear set on Mefo. Went to Prudhoe Bay Alaska and back BC. Fully load on a XR650L. Done more than 10,000 km. Back tire remain 1/8 thread and front more. About 1k on gravel remaining on black tar. Very good tyres. No issue. (Posted on 3/21/2017)

My favorite long distance tire since having one mounted in Moab a couple of years ago. Very good gravel and dirt road tire. Not so much in muddy conditions. Went cross country last year and was able to milk nearly 11k miles out of this front tire (7k on the rear) traveling back roads as much as possible. Great grip on paved twisty roads. This is my second set of Mefos. I haven't installed them yet but I can comment. I got around 4,500 miles on the rear and 6,000 on the front. I ran a set of Kenda 270s in between. For a 50/50 tire they handle great on the asphalt. They are quiet and and do well in the dirt.
I install my tires and these tube tires go on easy. (Posted on 2/10/2017)

Plenty of grip with no slip . . . A little bit of noise on the road during stopping and starting , but negligible . . . (Posted on 8/22/2016)

Purchased about a month ago. About 1500 miles(80% street) on them now, little sign of wear on rear, almost no sign of wear on front(still has nipples). Great grip all around, running at the recommended psi (30-35). I mounted them myself with trail tools and they seemed easier to install than other tires(or maybe I'm just getting better at it?) I also mounted the front in the indicated direction(not backwards), contrary to forum threads describing premature wear. Only time will tell. (Posted on 8/7/2016)

I bought these tires last fall for my ride to Belize because I didn't want to change tires during the trip I'm just now changing them 11200 miles later mostly road miles WOW the front could go more but changing as a set not bad for tires on a over weight KLR fully loaded with a 250 lb rider (Posted on 8/25/2014)

48,000 on my 2008 KLR and have tried every tire combo imaginable but keep coming back to the old tried and true Explorers. This will be the third set and truly they have given me the best and most consistent all around performance on and off road here in Alabama, the North Georgia Mountains and North Carolina.
