Jim "ICY" and his Twisted Triumph

Jim loves to explore our planet on his motorcycle and has been on two wheels for as long as he can remember.  He’s pushed the limits of his equipment by setting up his Tiger to tackle any adventure he can think up. His trusty steed is a 2014 Triumph Tiger Explorer XC outfitted with the following goodies:

Denali D4 Flood & Spot Hybrid LED Auxiliary Lighting Kit

Jim says "It's beyond impressive what the lights do to my road presence" now able to ride twisties at night due to a 90° field of vision, left and right.

SW-MOTECH Crashbars

The SW-MOTECH crashbars have protected both his bike and behind when the bike went down. Jim says they provided a "safe haven" for his legs and body upon tipping over with the bike. Instead of the entire weight of the motorcycle and luggage falling on your legs, the crashbars keep the bike off the ground preventing injury or becoming trapped. Paired with the Barkbusters Storm Handguards for hand protection, instead of bailing with the bike, you can actually hold on to it and go along for ride on a tip over or slide.  Jim says his favorite part of the Storm handguards is that he can take the plastics off in the summer for much more airflow while still being protected by the aluminum backbone.

Jim is running Givi Cam Sidecarriers with Trekker Outback hard luggage utilizing a 48 liter left side and a 37 liter right side box to carry his gear with him. The sidecases have helped to protect him when the bike has tipped over in the past. He enjoys the fact that he takes up more room on the road so traffic is much more aware of him, especially with all of the reflective and adventure survival stickers!

As top loading cases, the Trekker Outback cases maximize 100% of the space available while adding soft luggage on the lid if needed. Large aluminum handles and hearty tie downs not only make the cases easy to carry, but work very well for securing additional soft luggage and drybags such as the SW-MOTECH Drybag 180 he uses. On one trip along the Trans Labrador Highway, the versatility of the sidecases made it possible to get home with extra gear from another bike that wasn't making the return trip.

Rox Risers have been added to the Explorer to enhance comfort during iron butt rides.

When Jim isn't exploring locally he uses a Garmin Zumo 590 LM to guide him along his planned route. The Zumo is also used to control the Garmin Virb Elite camera that allows him to record all his incredible memories and adventures on.
