The SW-MOTECH ALU-RACK is a clean looking, stand-alone base system that allows Quick-Release fitment of TraX, Givi and other Topcases, SW-MOTECH luggage racks, or SW-MOTECH Bags-Connection Quick-Lock Tankbags to keep your motorcycle as versatile as you are.

The SW-MOTECH ALU-RACK: What You Need To Know

ALU-RACK Topracks are a sturdy and elegant solution for mounting your topcase. Constructed from high-strength, lightweight aluminum for durability, they are bike-specific and shaped to accentuate the lines of your motorcycle. Three mounting points for Quick-Lock fasteners in the center of the ALU-RACK allow attachment of removable adapters to fit most Topcases, an SW-MOTECH Quick-Release Soft Luggage Carrier, or an SW-MOTECH ALU-RACK QUICK-LOCK Tankring for fitting flat-bottom SW-MOTECH Bags-Connection Tankbags such as the QUICK-LOCK EVO Sport Tankbag or the QUICK-LOCK EVO Daypack Tankbag.

Adapter plates are available to fit the following Topcases

  • Givi Monolock
  • Givi Monokey
  • TraX ALU-BOX
  • Pelican
  • DrySpec
  • Shad SH26, SH29, SH32, SH33, SH37, SH40, SH42, SH45 & SH46 (not SH48, SH49 or SH50)
  • Kappa
  • Hepco-Becker
  • Coocase

Note: This Alu-Rack is not compatible with aftermarket Arrow Exhaust Slip Ons, the mounting brackets interfere with one another.

Confirmed to not fit with R&G Tail Tidy

Tried to look back in my purchase history to see when I originally bought this, but I couldn't find it, so I'm guessing it's at least 5 years old. The rack sees 40 miles of daily commuting with a light load (wallet, phone, clothing, lunch). Due to it's design, the case actually sits out on a pretty significant moment arm. The length of this arm, I'm assuming in most cases, encourages resonance when you put any kind of wind over the case. Mine was noticeable, but not troubling. However, one of the arms sheared through at the muffler mount weld bead with absolutely no plastic deformation. I'm assuming that the defects associated with the weld (perhaps improper heat treating) in combination with enough resonant cycles eventually caused the failure. Luckily, the other arm was still intact and I was able to limp home. There really aren't any other good options on the market (Givi has one too that seems to be similarly designed), so this is the best we can expect. I'll be doing routine inspections near the muffler welds from now on. It seems like a plate/strut could be attached to the arm bend to stiffen it up and eliminate/reduce resonance. Might be my next step if cost effective. Bottom line, really the only option out there, but you should anticipate failure at some point. (Posted on 8/25/2017)

Excellent fit and finish. Relatively easy installation. BUT... If you like to run a rear seat cowl like I do it will not work unless you are willing to do some cutting on the mounting rack. Not mentioned in the product description. (Posted on 9/1/2014)
